Come and experience the Saugus Speedway Swap meet we know today. This historical landmark opened its gates as a swap meet in 1963 and today thousands of people come in search of old and new treasures alike. Opened on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays you can listen to local bands as you browse the isles. The Saugus Cafe was originally built to feed the hungry patrons of the Saugus Railway Trainstation. The cowboys used to greet the train by shooting their guns in the air. The station had its share of bank robbers as well! The most famous being the night of 1929 when “Buffalo” Tom Vernon derailed and looted Engine Number 59 in Saugus. The Saugus Train station has also been featured in several movies, commercials and television shows as well. The first notable film being Charlie Chaplin’s “The Pilgrim” to Angelica Houston and John Cusack’s “Grifters.” Now located at the William S. Hart park.
